Engr. Tamuno, Rogers Ibunemisam holds B.Tech. Mech. Engineering, 2001 from Rivers State University of Science and Technology Npolu, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and is currently running a Masters degree programme in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria for the award of M.Eng. in Industrial Metallurgy and Corrosion Management.
He joined the Power Equipment and Electrical Machinery Development Institute (PEEMADI) in 2005, and had since then been actively involved in key projects and trainings of staff of the institute and other establishments. Some of which are: Training of staff of Federal Poly, Idah and Kogi State Poly, Lokoja, and technical staff of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited on Pro-E mechanical engineering design software, which generated revenue for the institute, He led a team of engineers that carried out the installation of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) machines at Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria.
He was the head of the Virtual Manufacturing Laboratory (VML)/AMT Unit and Acting head of the R&D department in 2010 and 2012 respectively. He was also the Acting head of the Engineering Research Division of the R&D before his current appointment as the Acting head of Technical Services department.
He is a Registered Engineer and also a member of professional bodies like NSE, MSN and ASME.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Technical Services Department is a notable department of the institute staffed with Engineers and Scientists who are saddled with the responsibilities of keeping service equipments, production machinery and buildings in good working conditions in addition to rendering other technical support services as maybe required from time to time.
The department is divided into four Units – the Workshop Laboratory, Machinery & Equipment, Utilities, ICT and the Automobiles/Heavy Duty Vehicles Units.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT
The principal objectives of the Technical Services Department include:
To extend the useful lifespan of the institute’s equipments, facilities, machinery and structures.
To ensure operational readiness of all equipments required particularly for everyday purposes.
To reduces stoppages and resultant loss in production
To reduce total cost of all inventory
To ensure the safety of personnel using equipments
To avoid exorbitant expenses on the repairs of equipments, this might occur if the equipment was not maintained and it fails.
DUTIES/SCHEDULES OF THE UNITS
WORKSHOP LABORATORY, MACHINERY & EQUIPMENT UNIT
This unit is responsible for the following:
The repairs and servicing of all workshop and laboratory equipments and machineries.
Taking inventory of all workshops and laboratory machineries and equipments.
Surveying buildings and repairs of electrical and mechanical systems.
It carries out salvage operations of both electrical and mechanical systems when necessary.
Inspect alarm systems which include fire and protection, and scheduled repairs when needed.
Perform manual repairs; fixing of locks, replacement of windows, e.t.c. whenever the need arises.
ICT UNIT
The ICT unit customizes software and other elements of the IT system to meet the needs of various departments in PEEMADI.
It ensures that the right level of ICT resources are available to meet changing levels of demand.
The unit develops tools to collect, store, manage, secure and distribute data to staff who need access to the latest information on the internet to make decisions about strategic, research and operational issues.
The ICT unit provides various forms of user support during computer based system trainings.
Installation of (new) softwares on computer systems or network facilities and providing training and technical knowhow needed to enable staff make the most effective use of IT resources
UTILITIES AND SERVICE UNIT
The unit is responsible for the day to day routine maintenance of the institute’s buildings and other utilities which include power generation, water supply.
The repairs of civil, mechanical and electrical faults in all building structures of the institute.
Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
Assisting in the set-up of ventilation, refrigeration and other system and conduct repairs when necessary.
Undertake activities of pest control such as fumigation.
Conduct general upkeep procedures for example landscaping and other tasks as assigned.
AUTOMOBILE/HEAVY DUTY VEHICLES UNIT
All the institutes’ vehicles are in the care of the unit.
Oversee the maintenance and service of all vehicles in the institute.
Assign drivers/ vehicles in the institute to official journeys.
Routine checks of the vehicles to know the conditions of all the serviceable vehicles and date and time in which each vehicle is to be serviced.
Responsible for drivers/vehicles mobilisation and inspections
